Peter Clay – Voice of the SMB

Peter Clay is the distinguished voice of the Spartan Marching Band. This is actually the second time that Peter has held the position; his voice was heard at Spartan Stadium in 1998. With a budding radio career, Peter moved cities to Asheville NC, where he spent 7 years as, among other things, an on-air host for Music and Sports Radio (WKSF-FM, WWNC-AM, WQNQ-FM, WPEK-AM). In recent years, his broadcasting career has moved away from the “on-air announcer side”, to sales management roles at Clear Channel Communications, Citadel Broadcasting, and now Tribune Broadcasting, where Peter is the Interactive Sales Manager for Fox 17 in Grand Rapids.

A 1999 MSU Alumnus in Telecommunications, Peter was also a member of the SMB’s famous “Spartan Tubas” as well as the Spartan Brass, the MSU Wind Symphony and Symphony Band. He was known on 100.7 WITL as “The Tall Guy” in the late 90′s, and also could be heard on 99.1 WFMK, 94.9 WMMQ, and 1240AM throughout the years. It is still common to hear Peter’s voice on Lansing Radio and TV stations, as well as other voiceovers and narrations.
