Former members of all MSU Bands return to campus each year for the MSU Alumni Concert Band Reunion. This year’s event on Sunday, April 29, 2012 promises to again offer a great day of camaraderie and music-making. Fairchild Auditorium will be the site of the morning gathering, refreshments and rehearsal. At noon we will break for a State Room luncheon at the Kellogg Center, followed by the 3:00 pm concert back at Fairchild. On the podium will be former MSU band directors as well current directors Kevin Sedatole and John Madden.
Reunion Schedule:
8:00 – 9:00 AM: Check in and social hour
9:00 – 11:00 AM: Music rehearsal
12:00 – 2:00: Optional buffet brunch at the Kellogg Center
2:30 PM: Arrive at Fairchild for concert
3:00 PM: Concert
Itinerary
We will begin the day at Fairchild Auditorium on campus. Parking is available directly across the street on the north side (facing the loading docks). Check-in and the social hour will begin at 8:00 am. Music rehearsal will be from 9:00-11:00 am. At this time everyone is free to get lunch on their own (the lunch at the Kellogg Center will begin at noon, for those who have registered for it). Everyone should be back at Fairchild by 2:30 pm for the 3:00 pm concert. “Dress-up” clothes are requested if you are participating in the concert. Please watch this site for updates (http://spartanband.net/alumni/), along with various media sources to make sure of announced times.
Instrument Policy
Please plan on bringing your own instrument to the reunion, or make arrangements to borrow one from another source. MSU typically does not have instruments available to borrow; there may be limited exceptions for random instruments. In case of a loaned instrument from MSU, a non-refundable fee will be assessed.
Brunch Buffet at the Kellogg Center
The Alumni Band will again have an optional buffet brunch at the Kellogg Center, following the morning rehearsal. It will run from 12:00-2:00 pm, and family members and friends are welcome to attend. The brunch is informal, and is good opportunity to relax, visit with other musicians, and unwind before the afternoon concert. Payment for the meal will be made at the Kellogg Center.
