Ronald Salow, 92, of Novi, MI, went to be with the Lord peacefully on November 22, 2019. Ron was born on August 11,1927 to Floyd and Ruth Salow, who lived in Novi when Ron was born. He was a longtime resident of Novi and had lived in his own home for 50 years, up until his brief hospitalization the week of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elaine, his 3 children: Carol (Tom)McLaughlin, Claire (Herman) Klingelhofer, and Paul Salow, his 5 grandchildren: Andrew (Stephanie) McLaughlin, Allison McLaughlin, Erich Klingelhofer, Courtney Salow, Caitlynn Salow, his great grand-daughter, Abigail McLaughlin, his brother-in-law Lowell (Karen) Rowe and sister-in-law Janet Marble, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John.
Ron was a graduate of Pontiac High School, Class of 1945. After high school he served in the United States Navy. He was an alumni of Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in 1951 and was a member of the MSU Marching Band and subsequently, a longtime member of the MSU Alumni Band. Ron was a music educator for 39 years, working most of his career in the Farmington school district where he shared the gift of music with many students. He enjoyed travel, photography, and especially his children, grandchildren, and new great granddaughter. He was an active member of Ward Presbyterian Church for 50 years, where he served as an elder and deacon. He also enjoyed
playing bass clarinet in the Novi Community Band for many years.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Ward Presbyterian Church, 40000 Six Mile Road, Northville, Friday, December 6. 2019 at 11 am, with visitation at 10 am.
